Newspaper websites are better at picking up web trends then TV sites

A recent report was released showing that Newspaper websites (think new york times) are making three times as much money from video ads as TV sites (think nbc, cnn, etc.)  "Newspaper sites grossed $81 million in local video advertising in 2006, compared to $32 million for local TV sites."

It’s interesting to see traditional print media jump on the trend faster the TV stations that I would believe are still living in a ‘tv world’ forgetting the fact that more folks are turning to the web (computer) for their entertainment and news. 

Another interesting fact is that Local online advertising on the web is currently an $8 billion/year market.  When you consider the amount of advertising in print/radio/tv, moving over to the web, I think it’s just about to take off.
