Meetro is my new home

I’ve been a little absent as I’ve started working for Meetro.com out here in Palo Alto.  We’re a location-aware Instant Messaging (IM) software company. I’m excited to join the team as this is one of the domains I’ve been interested in for the past 2 years.

The software is geared for people looking to stay in touch with their mobile friends or meet new people who are nearby.  We are still in the early stages at this point, but I encourage you to download and experiment with the software.  I would love to hear your feedback, I’ve included download links below.  Currently, when you log into the application, you will be able to see other Meetro members logged on within a few miles of your geographic location.  As membership grows, we envision displaying only other members that have a direct relationship with you, either through a friendship or community, with the option of displaying new people.

The key difference with Meetro over other IM clients is that your buddy list is dynamic and location based.  While your core list of buddies will always be available, Meetro can display members that users have any relationship with, weak or strong, though any online community users participate in.  The buddy list is sorted by location and displays the photos of other users.

We’re a small company, so I’m taking on a few different hats.  Depending on the hour this could include Product Management, Business Development, or Marketing.  Check out my meetro blog for my latest activities.  For instance, today I spent most of the afternoon on Stanford campus handing out free Ramen Noodles with our flyer attached, and it was a lot of fun.
